Honorable Mention If We Be Seals M. Kathryn Black This deck covers water, but unlike a ship goes nowhere. It is perpetual summer and we dive into wet greenness. Our skins thicken; we are seals today, tomorrow, and the rest of our precious lives– laughter is a throaty bark. Love is always graceful. We lounge in deck chairs, nibble on minnows before gliding down the slide into our private bay. There are sunbeams to follow, mackerel to dine on as we dance to the humpback’s song far away. |
